Ethics and Data Protection

Ethical and data protection concepts (in German) were developed for the Transplant Cohort, and have been approved by the responsible ethics committees and data protection representatives of all participating hospitals. Participation in the Transplant Cohort is only possible once a patient has given explicit informed consent.

The participating hospitals each have their own access to the Cohort’s data bank. It permits access to their own patient information only.

Further processing of the data is conducted solely in pseudononymised form, making matching of names and addresses to the identifying data impossible.

Biosample storage and processing is pseudononymised as well.
