Long COVID can affect various organ systems and cause a wide range of symptoms. Common symptoms include severe exhaustion (fatigue), shortness of breath, and difficulties with concentration and memory. Symptoms may persist for an extended period, fluctuate, or recur after a temporary improvement. There are various definitions of Long COVID. The World Health Organization (WHO) refers to a post-COVID-19 condition when symptoms generally appear about three months after a SARS-CoV-2 infection, last for at least two months, and cannot be explained by another diagnosis. The causes and pathophysiology of Long COVID are not yet fully understood.
