About the speaker
Martina Pigoni holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Udine, Italy. Her academic path included international research stints at the Minichello Lab (University of Edinburgh) and Gilthorpe Lab (University of Umeå). In 2014, she moved to Munich to pursue a PhD at GSN-LMU, conducting research at DZNE in the Lichtenthaler Lab on Alzheimer’s disease and BACE1 inhibitor side effects.
In 2019, Martina joined the Arlotta Lab at Harvard, using brain organoids to study Autism Spectrum Disorder. She later became a Discovery Scientist at the Institute for Human Biology, collaborating with Roche to develop blood-brain barrier models for neurodegenerative research.
Since 2023, Martina has served as a Senior Discovery Scientist in Roche’s Neuroscience and Rare Disease department and is transitioning into a Research Project Leader role, supporting projects in neurodegeneration and brain delivery to drive therapeutic innovation.
