Detailed description
Dysbiosis (from Greek dys = bad/abnormal and bios = life) describes the disruption of the physiological state of the microbiome (e.g., on the skin, in the gut, or in the mouth), where an imbalance in microbial colonization causes the overgrowth of pathogens and suppression of beneficial microorganisms, negatively impacting the health of the host. Among others, Dysbiosis can lead to chronic inflammation, autoimmune diseases, and severe infections. Dysbiosis is the opposite of eubiosis.
