RWTH Aachen University is participating in a study within the DZIF research area Healthcare-Associated Infections to investigate the effectiveness of individualized fecal transplants administered orally in capsule form in eliminating multidrug-resistant pathogens—especially enterobacteria— from the intestine. The transfer of healthy intestinal bacteria is intended to reduce colonization with such dangerous pathogens and thus lower the risk of serious infections in vulnerable patients.
