Working group
Humanized Mouse Core Cologne
Short description
Humanized mice carrying human genes or cells, for example, are a crucial model for disease research and drug development. Generating them and keeping them in optimal conditions requires a lot of know-how and experience. Therefore, a professional central unit with humanized mice (Humanized Mouse Core Cologne, HMCC) was set up at the University of Cologne. The facility supports the important objectives at the DZIF and is used by many scientists. Particular emphasis is on humanized mice that carry HIV infection. This model allows the effective investigation of new approaches for the treatment and cure of HIV.
