DZG Lunchtime Career Talks: "Clinical data science"
Monthly virtual talk series for all young scientists of the German Centers for Health Research (DZG).
Learn about different career paths in science. Expand your network and learn from your career role models!
At the next session, Dr. Malte Lücken will give insights into his work.
About the speaker
Dr. Malte Lücken leads the Integrative Genomics lab at Helmholtz Munich, between the Institute for Computational Biology and the Institute of Lung Health & Immunity. Malte's foundational studies were in Physics at the University of Warwick before he transitioned to working in computational biology, undertaking a PhD in network biology at the University of Oxford. After a stint in Pharma R&D at UCB Pharma in Belgium, he now works at the interface of machine learning and single-cell genomics at Helmholtz Munich.
Along this journey, Malte has gathered extensive expertise in single-cell genomics, machine learning, data integration, and benchmarking, which he uses to tackle complex biological and medical challenges in various diseases, with particular focus on the lung. Malte is also heavily involved in the Human Cell Atlas (HCA), where he leads the HCA integration team, an international team aiming to build integrated reference atlases for human tissues and organs. Overall, Malte's research goal is to improve clinical diagnosis and inform the treatment of disease leveraging large single-cell data resources and methods from machine learning and classical statistics.
