Short description
Cell therapy refers to the transplantation of living cells with the aim of treating diseases.

Detailed description

Transplanted cells can be taken from the patient or a donor, depending on the application. They are supposed to repair, replace or support patient cells or tissue. An example of cell therapy is the transplantation of T cells, which are supposed to fight cancer cells in the patient. Another example, which is already broadly used, is the donation of blood stem cells to treat leukemia.
