Short description

In infection biology, persistence refers to a being able to survive in a patient’s body.

Detailed description

persistence means that a pathogen continuously replicates like during a chronic infection or that it survives in a silent form in a refuge space within the body. Certain conditions can reactivate the silent form and cause again disease.
