Greifswald University Medicine is partnering in a project in the research area Healthcare-Associated and Antibiotic-Resistant Bacterial Infections, in which the lytic phage protein HY-133 is being investigated. The protein has been shown to be very effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in the nasal cavity. Currently, the promising compound is being investigated in preclinical studies to ensure its safety in subsequent clinical trials in humans.
