Prof. Dr. Karsten Becker at University Medicine Greifswald is an associated partner in a project within the research area Healthcare-Associated Infections investigating the lytic phage protein HY-133. The protein has proven highly effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in the nasal cavity. The promising compound is currently being evaluated in preclinical studies to establish its safety before proceeding to subsequent clinical trials in humans.
