Research areas

Scientists at the DZIF partner site Tübingen conduct research in the areas Community-Acquired Infections at Mucosal Interfaces, Healthcare-Associated Infections, Hepatitis, Infections of the Immunocompromised Host, Novel Antibiotics, Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases and Tuberculosis. The focus in Tübingen is on translating research findings into drug and vaccine development, as well as infection models and epidemiology. In the case of infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacterial pathogens, the focus is on multi-resistant pathogens such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and gram-negative pathogens (e.g. the so-called ESBL producers).
