With the following information, we would like to give you an overview of how we process your personal data and your rights under data protection law.

Responsible party:

German Center for Infection Research
Inhoffenstrasse 7
38124 Braunschweig

You can reach our data protection officer at:

Email: edsb@bredex.de

What sources and data do we use?

We take photographs during the event. On the one hand, these serve to capture the atmosphere and do not usually depict individual persons. Nevertheless, we process personal data from you in this way. On the other hand, group photos and photos during breaks are taken with usually more than 20 people pictured.

Relevant categories of personal data:
Photos, first and last name

What do we process your data for (purpose of processing) and on what legal basis?

We generally process your data on the basis of our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR in the context of public relations work. This applies to capturing the atmosphere of the event, group photos and shots during breaks.

Who receives your data?

In order to publish the photos from the event for the purpose of public relations, we pass on selected shots and thus possibly also your data to Twitter, LinkedIn, print service providers and the press.

Is data transferred to a third country or to an international organisation?

No data is transferred to countries outside the European Union (so-called third countries). However, in the case of a transfer to Twitter and LinkedIn, it can be assumed that the data will be passed on internationally.

How long will your data be stored?

We process your data for an unlimited period of time, until you file an effective objection to it or effectively revoke your consent. After that, we remove your recordings from the relevant media within 4 weeks or pass on the deletion request to the recipients of the data.

What data protection rights do I have?

Every data subject has the following rights:

  • Information (Article 15 GDPR)
  • Correction (Article 16 GDPR)
  • Deletion (Article 17 GDPR)
  • Restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR)
  • Objection (Article 21 GDPR)
  • Data portability (Article 20 GDPR)

With regard to the right to information and the right to erasure, the restrictions pursuant to Sections 34 and 35 BDSG apply. In addition, there is a right of appeal to a competent data protection supervisory authority (Article 77 GDPR in conjunction with Section 19 BDSG).

Information on your right to object in accordance with Article 21 of the GDPR

Individual right of objection

You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data relating to you which is carried out on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (data processing on the basis of a balance of interests); this also applies to profiling based on this provision within the meaning of Article 4(4) GDPR.

If you object, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the assertion, exercise or defence of legal claims.

Recipient of an objection

The objection can be made informally with the subject "Objection", stating your name, address and date of birth, and should be addressed to:

German Center for Infection Research
